Eric Mansfield Bowman transitioned peacefully from this life on August 31, 2022 at 3:50 pm at Staten Island University Hospital, Staten Island, New York.  He was born on March 9, 1955 to William and Virginia Bowman in East Harlem, New York.  He was the third child and first son of seven children.

As a young person, Eric was active in sports.  He was on a bowling team, baseball team, football team and ran track.  He also took karate, advancing to a green belt.

Eric met his wife, Gem on a beautiful fall day in 1987. Gem was drawn to his handsome smile.  She organically fell in love with his positive spirit and caring heart.  They were joined in holy matrimony in the summer of 1994.  His love for his wife was undeniable. She was his “gem” and she meant the world to him. He was a devoted and proud father. He constantly bragged about his children telling the world of their many accomplishments. It is it without question Eric loved all of his family dearly. He was a protective son, brother and uncle with a patient and listening ear. His love for his parents, siblings, nieces and nephews was obvious when he often spoke of their happy times together as a family.

Eric was a talented man who explored many trades during his adult years. He had the reputation as a diligent and dedicated employee who took pride in his work.  He received many awards and was loved by his co-workers.  He retired as a maintenance supervisor from St. Mary’s Hospital in 2009.

He leaves the following loved ones to cherish his memory; his beloved mother Virginia Bowman of Huntersville, NC, beloved wife Gem, daughter Keisha, son Anton, daughter-in-law Marquita, grandchildren Anton Jr. and Madison, his siblings; Carolyn Shaw of Manning, SC, Elaine Bowman-Acquah and husband Ken Acquah of Bronx, NY, Anthony Bowman of Manning, SC, Vivian Morrow and husband Harold Morrow of Summerton, SC and Deanna Little and husband Charles “Rock” Little of Huntersville, NC.  In addition, nieces, nephews, and host of relatives and friends.
