Eric Bryce Shanholtz, 51, previously of Capon Bridge, WV, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 in Fairmont, WV.
Eric was born on January 18, 1965 in Cumberland, MD and was a 1983 graduate of East Fairmont High. He had a profound fondness of nature and enjoyed hiking and fishing. He was a keen turkey and deer hunter, a fan of classic rock, antique muscle cars, and WVU sports. He liked playing basketball, baseball, canoeing the Cacapon, talking to his grandsons, and weight lifting with his son.
Eric was a gifted stonemason who took great pride in his art. He would place red hued stones throughout his work as his trademark. He was well known for this unique talent and for his restoration work which include the historic Hook’s Tavern, the old Carlyle Heffelbauer Estate, and many homes throughout the area.
He is survived by his daughter, Nicole DeJesus and her husband Emmanuel of Staunton, VA, his son, Elijah Shanholtz of Buckhannon, WV, two grandsons, Xavier Bryce and Alesder Emmanuel Robert of Staunton, VA, his parents, three sisters and their husbands, 2 nieces and 2 nephews, including Skylar Wotring, of whom he was very fond. Also surviving him are many extended family members and numerous friends.
