On September 22, 2017, Eppie P. Daproza of Ellicott City, Maryland, passed away from health complications stemming from a 29-year paraplegia.
A serious car accident during a family vacation in 1988 left Eppie paralyzed from the chest down. Although her body never fully recovered, her spirit was never broken. Eppie led an active life after the accident, serving as two-time President and long-term Treasurer of Washington, D.C.-based Progressive Alliance of Filipinos and Americans, Inc. (PAFAI), a cultural and charitable organization that she helped found in 1974.
Eppie was the beloved wife of Edmund “Ed” Daproza; devoted mother of Edmund “Rob” Daproza (Joy), Dianne Spillman (Brian), and Jonathan “Jed” Daproza (Marci); loving grandmother of Samantha “Manthy”, Sydney, Caitlyn, Alyssa, Lucas, and Silas; dear sister of Nestor Planta, Arthur Planta, and Mayette Wilder.
