Enrique “Rick” Marull, 73, of Galesburg passed away at 2:20 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at his home. He was born March 3, 1941 to Jose Domingo and Freesia Maria Donoso Marull in Ithaca, New York. He married Ann Gardner on May 24, 2004 in Galesburg.
Rick is also survived by two sons, Jose Enrique Marull Del Rio, and Enrique Felix “Benny” Marull; four daughters, Brigitte Rose “Rosie” (Werner) Reindel, Michelle Freesia (Gunther) Dworzak, Emerald Marull, and Amanda Gardner-Marull; six grandchildren, Yvonne, Enrique “Ricko,” Aileen, Jennifer, Andy, and Julien; a stepson, Joshua Lee Welsh; and former wives, Aixia Del Rio, Brigitte Porfel, and Linda Smith.
Rick served in the United States Army as a nurse for twenty-five years, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. During his service he served in Germany, Vietnam, and Panama and was awarded a Bronze Star. He was a member of AMVETS, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
