Enid Irene Siebert on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, Enid Irene Siebert was called to the banquet of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Enid was born August 8, 1922, in Midland, the daughter of the late William A. and Armena M. Craig.

Enid’s ancestors were one of the founding families of Midland, Michigan. She had been a Midland resident all of her life and graduated from Midland High School. Her first job was at Ovaitt’s Bakery on Main Street. She worked at her parents store at the corner of Eastman and Hubbard Road during World War II, when stamps were used for sugar, gas and other basic commodities in short supply.

During World War II Enid kept a scrap book of the all the young men from Midland who served. Each time an article was printed in the Midland Daily News, she clipped it for the scrap book. In her scrap book was the love of her life, Emil Arthur Siebert. Years later she donated the book to the Midland Historical Society.

Enid married Emil “Art” Siebert on February 15, 1947, (on her parents 30th Wedding Anniversary) in Midland at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Art and Enid partnered in the business of Siebert’s Grocery. The first store was on the corner of Eastman and Wackerly Road (in front of Shirlene’s Restaurant). This store, and their home next door, was taken by the government using the power of eminent domain when the US 10 expressway was built. They built a second store at the corner of Eastman and Monroe Road in Larkin Township. They continued their grocery business from 1947 to 1980 when they retired. Art passed away on January 10, 2006. They were married 59 years.

Enid enjoyed sewing, embroidery, baking and flowers. Her favorite thing to cook was cookies and yes, she had a sweet tooth. She was an avid Tiger Fan and loved to listen to Ernie Harwell broadcast the game on radio and so she would put the TV on mute to watch the game. She met Detroit Tiger’s pitcher Mark Fidrych, and received his signature.

Her family was the love of her life. Enid is survived by her son Donald (Debra) Siebert, daughter Donna (Ronald) Harrington; sisters Patricia Connelly and Donna Maxwell; sister-in-law Darlene Craig and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Enid was predeceased by three brothers Kenneth (Helen) Craig; William (Evelyn) Craig; James Craig and four sisters Rachel (Pete) Otis; Sarah (John) Schaefer; Mildred (John) Steger; Bonnie (Emil) Sapyak; brother-in-laws Richard Connelly; Elmer (Alice) Siebert; Clifford (Lida) Siebert; Floyd (Erma) Seibert and sister-in-law Marie (Mike) Sopcak.
