Emmett Leonard Glynn, 88,of Peru, passed away on Tuesday, June 10,2014 in St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.

Emmett was born on November 6, 1925 in LaSalle, Illinois to Edward and Mary(Dunne)Glynn. Graduate of L.P. Township High school. Emmett enlisted in the Navy at age 17. He served in England and Ireland during the war years and was in London during the Blitz. After the war Emmett worked at the Westclox for 16 years. Wanting a change he left Westclox and Illinois and moved to California with his brother Dunne.
With his pipe and Irish cap, easy laugh and ‘I’m going now’ trademark catchphrase, Emmett was a beloved figure to generations of nieces and nephews, friends and relations. He was a true gentleman and easily one of the coolest dudes to ever walk this planet. When his brother Dunne and Dunne’s wife Sharon moved back home to Illinois, Emmett followed. He spent his last years in Peru, near his boyhood home of LaSalle. Emmett was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rosemary, brothers Edward, Dunne, and James. He is survived by his sister in law Sharon Glynn of Peru, nieces Kathryn Glynn, Patricia Yunker, Pam Ellis, Nephews; Pete Glynn, Daniel and Brian Cosgrove, James, Patrick and Kevin Glynn, several great-nieces and great-nephews.
