EMMA LEE STEVENSON, a woman who was ultimately known for her kindness and generosity, departed from us to join her Heavenly Father on Friday, August 5, 2016.

Emma Lee was born January 26, 1942 in Big Four, West Virginia; she was the daughter of Mazie Lee and Thurmon Fonzo Avery. She was a longtime Deming resident and a longtime operator of Deming Independence Grace Fellowship, a church and soup kitchen that gave to impoverished members of the community. Emma’s main passions in life were to serve God and to make a difference in the lives of those who were faced with hardship, giving everything from food, clothes, and shelter to the homeless and those in need.

She is survived by 8 siblings; 3 sons, Ronald Stevenson and wife Shirley, Guy Stevenson and wife Laura, Michael Stevenson and wife Angie; daughter, Andrea Kuchma and husband Patrick; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Pat; her brother, Rusty; and 2 great-granddaughters.
