Emma Barry passed away September 11, 2014. Born in Rexburg, Idaho to Volga-German immigrant farmers Alex and Amelia Neiwirth, Emma Barry was a lifelong Idahoan. She, her twin sister Erma, and their four siblings worked on the farm and attended Rexburg schools during the Great Depression. After graduating as valedictorian from Madison High School, Emma enrolled at the College of Idaho where she met David E. Barry. They were married August 15, 1947. Emma and David lived in Twin Falls, Jerome, and Burley, Idaho, where they celebrated 58 years of marriage and raised six children. Emma delighted in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Emma’s greatest joys were times with her family and friends. She hosted many family holiday dinners, presenting the family with tables full of her home-prepared meals. Family events were noisy, memorable, and always included plenty of laughter. Emma and David enjoyed an extensive network of friends in the Magic Valley and in Queen Valley, Arizona, where they resided during the winter months after David’s retirement from Volco, Inc. They loved golf, and they were enthusiastic participants in golf tournaments and social events at Blue Lakes Country Club and Jerome Country Club. Emma and David were also avid travelers, enjoying many trips and cruises with good friends and fellow members of the Western Building Materials Association. In addition to raising her children, Emma found time for her own interests and hobbies.
