Emma Lazara Conner was born in the summer of 2002 in Lafayette, Indiana but moved to Flushing Michigan at seven days old. From a young age, Emma was involved in various sports and activities, ranging from gymnastics to soccer, speech and debate, to being a camp counselor at her beloved Camp Barakel up in Fairview, MI. While she enjoyed these things, what defined her was her love for God and her family. Emma’s heart was for the Lord and when she loved, she loved hard and her joy was contagious. That’s one reason her family went beyond those she was related to by blood. Her family included the people she spent the most time with – Chimpanzee Clubhouse, Christus Homines Drama Troupe, Camp Barakel, Tornados Homeschool soccer team, the crew at Crew Car Wash and Leaps Coffee, Immanuel Reformed Presbyterian Church, and many others. She was studying business at Purdue University Northwest. Emma’s love knew no stranger, because her heart was for her Savior. Even in her final moments, she was telling her rescuers about Jesus and praying with them. She knew where she was going and who she was going to be with. While we miss her terribly, we rejoice in her being complete in the fullness of God, made perfect in His image, rejoicing with Him for eternity.

She was proceeded in death by her Grandpa Al Conner and Uncle Rod Ehrlich. She is survived by her parents, Pat and Kristal, her six siblings, Isabela, Avery, Olivia, Ultan, Ydessa, and Zapporah Conner and grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins.

“Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalms 73:23-26
