Mrs. Emma Jean Shiver Dyess, age 89, of Spanish Fort, Alabama passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8th, 2020 at her residence. She was born on August 2nd, 1930 in Brundidge, Alabama to the late Clarence and Pauline Shiver.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband of sixty-three years, Lonza Mayes Dyess. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Dyess (Bob) Holley; her grandsons, Clint (Brandie) Holley and Kyle Holley; her sister, Irene Kelley; and her brother, Ronnie Shiver.
Mrs. Dyess was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lanett. She and her husband were charter members of the Vagabond Camping Club. She retired from West Point Pepperell’s Fairfax towel warehouse in 1992. In 2008 Mr. and Mrs. Dyess moved to Mobile, Alabama to be closer to their daughter and family.
