Services for Ms. Emma J. Gaiter 62, of Decatur, Alabama. will be Thursday 1:00pm at Christ Temple Holiness Church with Rev.
Emma Jean Gaiter was born in Trinity, AL to the late Tommie Hughes Gaiter and Edna Mae Jones-Gaiter. She transitioned from her earthly body on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Decatur Health and Rehab.
Emma Jean Gaiter attended Tennessee Valley High School, and later went on to become a certified nurse’s assistant. After her training, she worked diligently at the former Sunbridge nursing home, where she received awards and recognition for her excellent patient care. Emma was employed at Sunbridge for 18 years until her health declined.
Emma was baptized in Jesus’ name at a young age, and served as a member of Pentecostal House of Prayer under Bishop A.C. Strong and later Bishop T. D. Strong.
Emma loved to cook, even as much as taking cooking classes in her younger days as a mom. Emma had a huge heart for God. She learned to drive later than others in life, but she didn’t miss a “singing” or Pentecostal night service, as well as making sure all of her girls were in attendance. Emma had a warm, sweet presence about her with a little spice on the side. She could be quiet, or she could be a mess depending on who is telling the story. A few other things Emma loved were Gospel music, Alabama football, poetry, crossword puzzles, and her bible.
Emma was preceded in death by: three loving sisters, Essie Lee Jones-McDaniel, Minister Bettie Jean Gaiter-Grizzard, and Tomella Gaiter-Sykes; two loving brothers, Johnny Ray Gaiter and Elder Vernon Gaiter; a devoted godmother, Louise Dillard-Clopton.
