Emma M. Gonzalez, 95, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Valley Baptist Medical Center. She was born June 4, 1919 and was a member of a Harlingen Pioneer Family. Emma was a prayer warrior who volunteered countless hours to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, preparing linens for the church altar as a member of the Guadalupana Society. Emma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister. Family was her prized possession. She was the matriarch of the Gonzalez and Martinez families. Emma will be remembered as a beautiful person and the shining light that touched everyone’s life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alejandro Gonzalez, Jr.; three brothers; three sisters; her parents, Sergio Martinez and Victoria Tijerina Martinez.
Emma is survived by her children, Mrs. Daniel (Emma) Barron, Mrs. Rogelio E. (Teresa) Hernandez, and Patricia Gonzalez; 2 sons, Alejandro Gonzalez III (Irma) of Houston and Armando Gonzalez of Austin; 5 grandsons; 5 granddaughters; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
