WESLEY CHAPEL, NC – Emma Braswell Deese, 80, died Thursday, January 01, 2015, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Emma was born March 2, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Susie Walters Braswell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace R. Deese and sister, Ester B. Grady.
Emma is survived by her daughters, Debra DiNorscia of Monroe, NC, Nancy Campbell of Indian Trail, Cathy Harkey and husband, Joe of Huntsville, AL and Carol Schaefer and husband, Todd of Gilbert, AZ; brothers, Robert K. Braswell of Charlotte and Lloyd V. Braswell of Waxhaw; sister, Linda B. Warner of Indian Trail; grandsons, David DiNorscia of Charlotte, Kevin Campbell and wife, Cortney of Alpharetta, GA, Brad Harkey and wife, Elise of Augusta, GA and Scott Harkey of Tuscaloosa, AL; and two great-granddaughters, Ruby Claire Campbell and Annabel Campbell, both of Alpharetta, GA.
Emma was raised in Polkton, NC and was a 1952 graduate of Polkton High School. She was employed by Leesona Corporation for over 10 years and afterwards as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service, serving various areas of Mecklenburg County. Following her retirement in 1999, Emma enjoyed sewing, crocheting, canning fruits and vegetables and participating as a member of the Wesley Chapel Homemaker’s Club.
