Emma B. Hofstetter, 101

Emma B. Hofstetter, 101, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 in Alamogordo. She was born on January, 1, 1908 in Pittsburgh, PA to John M. Geszler and Susan E. (Martin). Emma met and later married Joseph Hofstetter in 1928 and raised one adopted daughter, Dorothy. Dorothy was born on June 11, 1929 and passed away on January 2, 1986. After Dorothy passed they bought an organ as a memorial to Dottie Pasekoff. A plaque was presented to her mother, Emma who placed it on the organ. It is still at St. Jude Mission today.

Emma and Joe moved to Alamogordo in 1968 to help Dorothy with her three children after learning on March 13, 1966 that her husband was MIA in Vietnam. The children were 8, 10 and 12 years old at the time.

Emma was always active in St. Jude Parish and served as Eucharistic Minister and Lector for many years. She was also an active member of Blue Army and Altar Rosary Society. She served on many committees including the welcoming committee, kitchen buying committee and especially the Baptismal garment and Bibs from 1983 to 1994.

She is survived by two sisters, Margaret Vogle of Pittsburgh, PA and Dorothy Framenpries of Fall Brook, CA; three grandchildren, Rick Pasekoff and wife Claire of Albuquerque, Larry Pasekoff and wife Phyllis of Wylie, TX and Karen Nauez and husband Fred, Minneapolis, MN and five great grandchildren, Casey Ross, Ross Pasekoff, Robert Pasekoff, Kelly Pasekoff and Laura Pasekoff.

The Rosary will be recited at 1:15pm on Monday, July 20, 2009 at St. Jude Mission.
