Emily Vessell Brown, age 91, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019, at Pruitt Healthcare in Franklin surrounded by family.
She was born April 24, 1928, in Heard County, GA to the late Benjamin Harvey Vessell and Sarah Frances Fomby. Emily worked for Uniroyal as a winder until she retired in 1990. She was a longtime member of Emory Chapel United Methodist Church and later joined Franklin First United Methodist Church.
Along with her parents, Emily is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Brown, Sr.; daughters, Marie Brown Barnes, Julie Brown Arrington Thomas; and grandson, Adam Lee Barnes. Emily is survived by her son, Raymond Brown, Jr., and his wife Carla Brown; grandchildren, Kelly Barnes Worth, Shannon Brown McCrary (Mike), Benjamin Edward Brown (Nan), Barry Alton Barnes, Joseph Arrington, Hilary Arrington, and nine great-grandchildren.
