WINSTED -Emily J. Cannavo, 88, passed away peacefully at home on December 5, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Joseph S. Cannavo who shared sixty-four years of marriage. Born in Winsted Connecticut, January 24, 1927, she was the daughter of Waldo and Theresa Marolda Nanni. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, a member of Italian American Women’s Club, Fatima Guild and her friend’s circle, “Chat and Chew”. She will be remembered for her faith, love of family, volunteerism, strength, and her flair for artistic design and her beauty. She is survived by her husband, Joseph S. Cannavo, her children, Joanne and son-in law Frank Marzullo, Terrie and son-in-law Peter H. Walker, Marie Cannavo-Langill, Joseph A. Cannavo and Lisa and son-in-law Nicholas Venn, fourteen grandchildren; Jenna and husband Matt Stockwell, Jesse Marzullo and wife Alicia Pointer, Tyler and wife Karen Walker, Adam and wife Kristin Walker, Cory Walker and friend Kierstyn Godenzi, Mara and husband Wesley Gieseking, Jordan Langill, Jeoffrey and wife Ashli Langill, Cecilia, Sophia and Tessa Cannavo and Nicholas, Rachael and Kyle Venn and ten great grandchildren. Emily is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Guerard and Natalie Higgins.Auntie Emily is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Alesio (Sonny) Nanni; her niece, Cathy Guerard Fritz and nephew, James Guerard.
