Emily Catherine (Schenkel) Bauer, 47, of Hudson, CO, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 6, 2017. She came screaming into this world on a blustery November day in Larned, Kansas. On that Monday in 1969, the 17th to be exact and every day hence, “Emy” has brightened the days of all who were fortunate to meet or know her! Her laughter and smile were contagious; her wit uncompromising, cutting, and honest; her song and voice competed with the Angels in Heaven.
Emy brilliantly sang, danced, and laughed her way through Hays High School, Hays, KS, and graduated in May 1988. She was passionate about all music unless someone was singing it through their nose! Her musical fondness and talent were discovered at an early age, when at age 3, she was caught belting out Tanya Tuckers’ Delta Dawn and tunes from ABBA while plunking away at the family’s ancient electronic keyboard. As her teen years came and went, her musical likes slanted toward such groups as Duran Duran and Warrant. Recently, she enjoyed crooning to Sugarland and Little Big Town.
Emy’s professional career began as a Medical Billing Clerk at various Denver area hospitals and presently, was a homemaker.
Emily is survived by her loving husband Terrell E. Bauer; three children, Beatrice Rickman, Caitlin Bauer, and Joel Bauer, and her beloved dog, Zoey, all of Hudson, CO; her mother, Judith M. (Cunningham) Schenkel, Wichita, KS; three older siblings – Shelly M. Schenkel , Colorado Springs, CO; Karen L. Vacek (Adolph), Western, NE; Jo Ann Baier (Robert), Andover, KS. She leaves behind many wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by twin infant brothers and her father, Larry J. Schenkel, Hays, KS; paternal grandparents – Alex and Meta Schenkel, LaCrosse, KS; maternal grandparents – William and Rose Cunningham , Zenda, KS.
Emy was loved by all who knew her and loved everyone she knew.
