On August 14, 2015, Emil William Hartmann, of Glen Burnie, passed away at Harbor Hospital. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 1, 1938 to the late Florence and Emil Hartmann and went on to graduate from Mount Saint Joseph High School in 1957. At age 14, playing the snare drum, he started in his first drum corps, The Monastery Drum Corps. He then went on to march in the 29th Division Drum Corps, where he met his future wife, Gloria. They both marched in the Kenwood Cadets and Emil went on to the Yankee Rebel Drum & Bugle Corps in 1960. In 1989, an alumni corps was assembled to march in the American Legion Parade in Baltimore City. He then moved on to the Middle River Ancient Drummers where he was a current member on the rudimental snare drum.
