Emil J. Kauffman Emil J. Kauffman, 81, of Bethlehem, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011, in Seasons Hospice Care at Phoenixville Hospital. He was the husband of the late Gladys “Joyce” (Leidig) Kauffman, with whom he was married for 56 years before her passing in December 2007. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Emil, Sr. and Mary (Madle) Kauffman. He was a graduate of Liberty High School, class of 1947. Emil served in the US Army for 23 years and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in 1970. He was the former owner of Johnnys on Broadway from 1988-1989, former owner of a 7-11 in California and worked for Rite Aid for several years. He also owned a baseball card business. Emil was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Bethlehem Township and was past president of the Lehigh Valley Treasure Club and was an avid metal detecter. Survivors: daughters, Margo Reclus and her husband Rene of Galliano, LA, Lee Ann Pommier of Murrieta, CA, and Kay E. Lawrence and her husband Michael of Bethlehem; 5 grandchildren, Micky, Amy, Jennifer, Christie and Anthony and 8 great-grandchildren. Emil was preceded in death by his sister Marie Henritzy and brothers, Vincent and Robert Kauffman.
