Emil E. Detlefsen, Jr., 86, of Harrison Lane died Saturday May 26, 2012 at VITAS. He was the husband for 60 years to Evelyn (Kane) Detlefsen. Mr. Detlefsen was born December 17, 1925 in Waterbury son of the late Emil E. and Hattie (Folgmann) Detlefsen, Sr.
He graduated Leavenworth High School in Waterbury and worked as a Forman for Risdon Manufacturing as a Carbide Tool and Die Maker; where he was credited as being the founder of the carbide department in the company.
He was a Staff Sargent in the Army Air Corps on a B17 bomber. He was a member of the American Legion Post 146, and had served as a Second Selectman for the Town of Bethlehem.
A longtime volunteer fireman, he served as Bethlehem’s chief for 10 years.
Always an active member of his community, Mr. Detlefsen was always involved in his community’s interests and projects. He enjoyed his role as announcer for the kids tractor pull at the Bethlehem Fair each year, but his biggest interest by far was being loved and surrounded by his family.
Mr. Detlefsen was a humble man with vast knowledge of the Holy Bible.
