He passed away at 7:05 a.m. Sunday at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born October 26, 1925, in Kenova, West Virginia, to Elmer J. and Mary Belle Robinson Hatten. He was married on August 9, 1947, in Logansport, to Loisann Gotschall, who preceded him in death on January 15, 1962.

Emerson was an avid reader, gardener, golfer, and builder, who loved his children, grandchildren, his great-grandchildren and his faithful buddy, Sadie.

He loved performing on stage and was a longtime member of Logansport Civic Players, having portrayed Professor Harold Hill in “The Music Man” and Will Parker in “Oklahoma”, the first two musicals presented by the Civic Players in 1963 and 1964.

He joined the United States Marine Corps while still in high school in 1943. While stationed with the Marine Corps in Bremerton, WA., Emerson served as a bodyguard for President Roosevelt.

He graduated from Logansport High School and attended Butler University.

Mr. Hatten was a retired engineer with Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a member of the former St.

Grandchildren: Eric Norzinskay (Holly), Missy Hayes (Mike), Logansport; Erin Hatten of Camden; Stephanie Lewis, Ft Wayne; Lindsay Sutherland, Kokomo; Adam Hatten, Rochester; Tera Price (fiancAC.e Lucas Montgomery), Kyle Price, Logansport; Scott Price, Overgaard, Arizona, Nikki Evans (Teddy) Kokomo, David Broughton, Lafayette.

Great grandchildren Faith Norzinskay, Marlee Higgins and Kylie Williamson, Camden, Chantel and Brandon Lewis, Ft. Wayne, Makenzie Vibbert, Camden; Natalie and Emily Sutherland, Kokomo, Kaleb and Evan Hatten, Rochester.

Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by Daughter: Teresa Hatten; Great Granddaughter: Katie Higgins Sister and Brother-in-Law: Helen and Ed Coleman Brother: James Hatten Sister-in-law: Ruthalene Ervin.
