Emanuel” Manny” Calvanico, 84 of Lavallette, NJ died on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ with his family by his side. He was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ. Manny and his family summered in Lavallette for 50 years before moving to Lavallette permanently in 1988.
Manny was in the US Navy reserve and continued his service in the US Army from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was a Jersey City Mounted Police Officer for 10 years and later went on to work for M. Bello Insurance Agency in Cliffside Park, NJ as an Insurance Manager, retiring in 1991. During retirement he worked part time as a tennis attendant for Lavallette.
Manny is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Helen Miller Calvanico, his sons, Tom Calvanico and his wife Ann of Rumson and Robert Calvanico of NYC, NY, his grandchildren Allison and Nico, his sisters, Judy Raymond and her husband Robert of California and Esther Cimino of Florida and many nieces and nephews.
