Elwood F. “Butch” Reed, Jr., 66, of White Pine, passed away Sunday afternoon at 2:20 p.m. at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital.
Born May 6, 1944 and raised in Linden, he was a son of Elwood and Eleanor Dougherty Reed, Sr. He and his wife Mary Alice (Carpenter) Reed had been married for 45 years.
He was a 1962 graduate of Williamsport High School, where he played in the Jr. and Sr. High School Band. Butch retired from Central Coca-Cola in 2009. He was a lifetime member of the Woodward Fire Company Fire Police and Larry’s Creek Volunteer Fire Company Fire Police. He was a member of the First Church of Christ Disciple, Williamsport, a Boy Scout and Order of the Arrow. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and model trains.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by two daughters, Amy (Earl Lee) Stroble of Jersey Shore and Lisa (James) Miller of Jersey Shore, a sister Kathy Persun of White Pine, nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Joshua, Thaddeus, Jessica, Mark, Cory, Devon, Jerrett, and Natalie, one great granddaughter Anna, and four nephews; Charles Jr., Kevin, Kyle, and Curtis Persun.
He was preceded in death by a son James Reed in 2007.
