Elwood E. Edwards, 86 North Greenbush Elwood E. Edwards, 86, formerly of Pine Avenue, died Thursday at Van Rensselaer Manor North Greenbush, after a long illness. Born in Troy, he was son of the late Elwood and Julia Scheck Edwards and husband of Catherine A. Peckham Edwards. He had resided the past 60 years in the Wynantskill area. Mr. Edwards worked for Shortsleeves Well Drilling in Wynantskill and later was a maintenance mechanic for John Manning Paper and Behr-Manning in Watervliet. He was a 55 year member of Second Baptist Church and Mt. Ida Community Baptist Church in Troy, a member of the Wynantskill Seniors and Sullivan-Jones Veteran’s of Wars Post in Poestenkill and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters Judith Edwards Goyer and husband Thomas of Wynantskill and Nancy Edwards Casteras and husband John of Colonia, NJ; a brother-in-law Daniel Peckham and wife Ruth of Wynantskill; two grandchildren Wendy Goyer-DiGioacchino and husband Anthony of Ballston Spa and Denise Goyer DeMarco and husband James E. of East Greenbush; two great granddaughters Isabella and Sophia DiGioacchino of Ballston Spa and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother John Edwards and two sisters Mildred Hagg and Bernice Baran.
