Elwood Cleveland Carson, Jr. of Suffolk, VA went to his heavenly home on June 19, 2024 at the age of 85. He was predeceased by his father, Elwood Cleveland Carson, Sr.; mother, Virginia Marie Wass Carson and a brother, Dean Ray Carson.Elwood Carson was a loving husband, father, and pops to those who loved him. He spent four years in the Navy right out of high school and then went into the apprenticeship program at Norfolk Naval Shipyard for both electrician and electronics department. Elwood spent the rest of his career in government working as an electronic engineer director and retired at the age of 54. Elwood was an avid motorcycle and car enthusiast to the point where he raised his two sons to race motorcycles. They formed Team Carson Racing which they reached the racing professional division on the AMA Circuit. Later in life the boys went from racing motorcycles to racing cars at the local Langley speedway and this carried on for 15 more years. Elwood was a vivid animal lover along with his wife, Mary Carson, whom he has been married to for 63 years.Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Mary Virginia Carson; sons, Tod Carson (Holly) and Kelly Carson (Brandy); grandkids, Chris, Catlyn, Taylor, Cody, and Lily; sister, Mildred Beek (Paul); brother, Jerry Lee Carson.
