Elwood Augustus Myers, 96, of Union Bridge, Maryland died peacefully Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born May 5, 1917 in Uniontown, he was the son of the late Andrew Jonas and Mary Nora Myers. He was the husband of the late Ruth Anna Willet Myers, to whom he was married for 63 years.
Elwood was a retired dairy farmer in Carroll County. He was a life-long member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau and a long-time member of the Maryland Milk Producers Association. He was involved in 4-H from his youth and became a Carroll County and Maryland State 4-H All-Star. He was a member of the former Baust Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tyrone where he served in a variety of positions over the years, including past president of the church council.
Surviving are children, Shirley Blean of Bloomfield, CT, Donald Myers and wife Miriam of New Windsor, Richard Myers and wife Judy of Mt. Joy, PA, and Darlene Wike and Joanna Goeckeritz, both of Union Bridge; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by sons-in-law, David Blean, William “Tom” Wike, and Barry Goeckeritz and by a nephew, Jim Willet.
