Elwin T. Hahn, age 61, of Chippewa Lake/ Battle Creek, passed away unexpectedly on February 1, 2011 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. He was born on May 10, 1949 in Big Rapids, MI to Thomas and Margaret (Zuse) Hahn and graduated from Chippewa Hills High School. In August of 1974 he married Rosemary A. Hammond in Battle Creek. The couple raised their family in the Canton, Shepherd and Battle Creek areas. Elwin received a degree in Industrial Chemistry from Ferris State University and later went back to Ferris for a degree in Pharmacy. He was formerly employed by Dow Corning in Midland. He worked for Rite Aide Pharmacy for 35 years and for the last 17 years has enjoyed his work as a district manager. Elwin instilled ethical values in his children and was a caring, nurturing and honorable man. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Elwin enjoyed tools and the ability to fix things around the house, he loved his dogs and boating. He looked forward to going hunting especially for deer and elk. Elwin was a member of the Lions Club in Battle Creek. Through the years Elwin and Rosemary offered a caring home to 13 exchange students. Elwin will be remembered by his family for being a good family man who took the time to teach his children what he knew. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Rosemary of Chippewa Lake and Battle Creek; two adoring sons, Andrew (Wendy) Hahn of Rockford and Nathan Hahn of Manhattan, NY; one sister Sharon (Bud) Spaugh, 2 brothers David and Wayne (Joyce) Hahn all of Chippewa Lake; 4 nieces, 4 nephews. Elwin was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Margaret.
