Mrs. Elvira Rodriguez
(Zamora), 83, departed on Saturday April 11, 2009 in Gates Manor Nursing Home in Montclair.

Elvira was born in Cuba and came to this country in 1962 and settled in Florida. She moved to Kearny shortly after where she lived for 40 years.

She graduated from the University of Havana in Cuba with a B.A. and P.H.D. in Philosophy & Letters in 1943. Later she earned a Masters Degree in Spanish Literature from Montclair Sate University. She was a teacher for the Union City Board of Education for 20 years also working in the evening as an adjunct professor at Rutgers University and Montclair State University. She retired 18 years ago.

She was predeceased by her husband Avilio. She is survived by her two daughters Diana Rego (David) and Elvie Evans. She was the grandmother of Danielle Evans.
