Elvira came to Jersey City in 1959 from Utuado, Puerto Rico. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School for many years teaching Spanish. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Elvira leaves behind to cherish her memory Elvira’s beloved family of grandchildren, including Edwin, Kathy, Jackie, Jaime, Michael, Dagmar, Melissa, Madeline, her 14 great grandchildren, her 6 great great grandchildren, her late daughter Milagro Alvarez, Migdalia Rivera, Angelic Ramos, and her late son Luis Torres. She was the daughter of the late Joaquin Cortes Rodriguez and Mercedes Portalatin Ramos.
