Elvira Reini was 90 years old when she passed away on Monday October 10th, 2022, in Canon City, Colorado from natural causes. She was a sister, mother, grandmother, and a great-grandmother at the time of her passing. Her passing marks a new beginning, the reunification with our Lord, her husband, and many others that have passed before her and who have been waiting for her arrival in heaven.
Vera was born in Morenci, Arizona on March 15, 1932, and was the oldest daughter of Francisco and Maria Gomez. She attended and graduated from Porterville Union High School on June 6th, 1951. After a few years, she eventually decided to join the military. She entered the United States Air Force on August 20th, 1957 as an Accounting and Finance Specialist and was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida where she met and married LeRoy Rendall Reini on January 11th, 1958. After serving in the Air Force, Vera was certified as a Psychiatric Technician and worked at the Porterville State Hospital and the Agnew State Hospital in San Jose, California for 10 years before changing her career. She spent her remaining professional career as an accountant.
Elvira is survived by five children and their spouses, Yvette D.C. Gustavson and Nils A. Gustavson of Fleming, Georgia, Kenneth D. Reini and Lisa Reini of Fountain, Colorado, Maria Y. Zehrung and Delbert A. Zehrung of Florissant, Colorado, Jacqueline M. Reini of Florissant, Colorado, and Ellen D. Lopez of Hanford, California; her grandchildren, Jason D. Gustavson, Kyle R. Gustavson, Kathryn A. Zehrung, Kenneth D. Reini II, Tyler A. Zehrung, Dana L. Bounds; her great-grandchildren, Kayl R. Gustavson, Mikah A. Gustavson, Pricilla A. Gustavson, and Juliette E. Gustavson; her siblings, Gabriel “Gabe” Gomez, Salvador “Sal” Gomez, Teresa “Terry” Gomez, Ernestina “Ernie” Olivier, Maria Louise “Mary Lou” Moorehead, and Alfredo “Freddie” Gomez.
She is predeceased by her husband, LeRoy; her eldest daughter, Yvonne L. Reini; her grandson, Bradley A. Zehrung; her great-grandson, Cal Gustavson; her siblings, Robert “Bobby” Gomez, Mercedes “Mercy” Gomez, Maxine Bryant, and Peter Gomez.
