Elvin Lynn Wilks
Elvin Lynn Wilks, 64, a resident of Wendell, Idaho, passed away Monday, September 26, 2011 after a prolonged illness at River Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Twin Falls.
Elvin was born April 13, 1947 on his grandparents Bill and Lena Polumsky’s homestead ranch near Peola Washington to Aaron and Wilma Polumsky Wilks of Troy, Oregon.
Elvin began school at Flora, Oregon and completed his schooling at Lostine, Oregon before his marriage to his first wife Eunice Lathrop. Two children blessed this marriage; Lisa Lynn Barton and Elvin Lynn “Zene” Wilks, Jr. Elvin supported his family as a log truck driver and tree faller in Wallowa County, Oregon. After a logging injury, he completed two years of college, studying drafting; auto and diesel mechanics.
In 1983, Elvin married Mary Ann Schoonover. Two children blessed this marriage; Justin Lynn Wilks and Megan Lynnae Wilks. After being declared disabled in 1987, he returned home to Flora, Oregon, living there until health reasons dictated a change.
On August 7, 2011, Elvin was transferred from the Wallowa County Care Center in Oregon to Twin Falls, Idaho where he chose to spend his remaining time close to his two younger children and grandchildren.
Elvin is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary Wilks of Wendell, Idaho; his daughter Lisa (Randy) Barton; son Zene (Shelly) Wilks, all of Wallowa, Oregon; son Justin (Shayna) Wilks of Jerome, Idaho; daughter Megan Wilks of Wendell, Idaho; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sharon (Dennis) Wulf of Meeteetse, Wyoming, Beverly (George) Stitzel of Brookings, Oregon; 1 brother Melvin (Betty) Wilks of Genesee, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elvin was preceded in death by his parents Aaron and Wilma Wilks and numerous aunts and uncles.
