Elton Monken, age 96, born on August 26, 1920, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2016 in Glen Ellyn, IL. Elton was born and raised in Shiloh, IL and was a long time resident of a Glen Ellyn community, formerly named “The Meadows.” He was a lifelong CUBS baseball fan who was blessed to see his dream come true with the CUBS becoming 2016 World Series Champions! He lived his life to the fullest, had an incredibly warm heart and he put everyone before himself. His life impacted so many other lives and we were all blessed to have had him in our lives. Elton was a loving and devoted father and grandfather.
Elton was preceded in death by his parents; Albert and Amelia Monken, nee Haury and his beloved wife; Genivee Monken, sister in-law; Marie Monken, brother in-law; Adam Landry. Elton is survived by his sons; Wayne (Marie) Monken and Clifford (Jill) Monken, siblings; Vernon Monken, Marilyn Landry, grandchildren; Cassie (Jeffery) Mann, David (fiancé Lisa DeMarco) Monken, Cheryl (David) Papeck and Emily “Emmy” Monken, great-grandchildren; Bryon Monken, Jylian Monken, Peyton Monken, Samantha Mann, Dakota DeMarco, Elena and Anna Papeck, great-great grandchildren; Issac Kelley, Alyvia Kelley, Hayleigh Hulsey and Thomas Hyde, expected great-great grandchild; Ensley Mann, many nieces and nephews.
