Elton C. Baker, 87 of Mallard died Thursday January 17, 2008 in Mesa, Arizona. Elton C. Baker, the son of Blanchard D. Baker and Estella Mae Arnold was born December 20, 1920 in Havelock, Iowa. He received his education in Plover, graduating from the Plover High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1942-1945. On June 20, 1946 Elton was united in marriage with Marcella Lang at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Laurens. The couple lived in the Mallard area during their married lives. During that time Elton farmed, worked for Medford Industries in Laurens and the West Bend Elevator Company in Mallard. He also spent many years as a school bus driver in the West Bend Mallard school system. Survivors include his wife Marcella, Mallard; children, Dena Moragues of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Vonita Brown of Statesville, NC; Galen Baker of Oregon, Wisconsin; and Renae Lenhardt of Plymouth, Minnesota. Fourteen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive. Elton was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mallard and was a W.W. II Naval Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Marion.
