Elsie Nevins, 83, of Naplate, died Friday Evening, Dec. 10, at the LaSalle County Nursing Home.
Mrs. Nevins was born on January 23, 1927 in Ottawa, to Massimo and Theresa (Morsiani) Monzoni. She was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School and was employed Illinois Bell Telephone Company until her retirement. She married James Nevins on March 6, 1946, in Joliet. She was a life-long member of St. Marys Church, a member of the church choir, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by three sons, Patrick (Donna) Nevins of Sanibel, Florida, Michael (Joy) Nevins and John (Jill) Nevins, both of Ottawa, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Marilyn (Larry) Marta, of Peru.
She was preceded in death by her husband James, on June 10, 2002, three brothers, Louis, Arthur, and John Preci, and two sisters, Bernice Lurz and Helen Ruleman. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Nina Christensen, Jonathan, Ryan, Nate, Kyle, Kody, and Kelli Nevins, and Steven Szobar. Memorials may be directed to St. Marys Church.
