Elsie M Gamble, age 95, of Salem, Ohio, died at 3:50 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2013. She was born April 13, 1918 in Damascus, Ohio, the daughter of the late Irvin and Myrtle (Kelly) Hoopes. Mrs. Gamble had been a homemaker, worked for TRW and retired as a cook at United Local Schools. She was a 1936 graduate of Goshen High School and a member of the New Garden United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Hanoverton Garden Club and a 50-year member of Butler Grange. Her husband, G. Alfred “Fritz” Gamble, whom she married August 27, 1937, preceded her in death May 23, 1987. Two daughters, Joyce Wharton and Marie Haynam, three brothers, Arlan, Ramon and Wilford Hoopes and five sisters, Lela Steer, Vera McDaniel, Gladys Cameron, Wilma Bricker and Mildred Burger also preceded her in death. Survivors include 2 sons, Jay (Judy) Gamble of Winona and Wayne (Karen) Gamble of Hanoverton; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving Mother, Grandmother and friend to all whose lives were enriched by her presence. Our hearts are full of memories of all the happiness, love, faith and guidance she has given so lovingly to all who were in her path to eternal peace. God Bless Our Angel.
