Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Secundino of 63 years; her daughter, Joyce Sanchez; and her grandson, James Ray Montoya.
Elsie was born on May 5, 1920 in Capulin, NM to Maria Nolan and Jose Gonzales. Elsie was one of twelve children. Elsie and Secundio were married on April 22, 1939 in Clayton, NM. She was an active member of St. John’s Choir. She loved music and was an accomplished singer.
She is survived by sons: Ernest Montoya (Veronica), Ivan Montoya (Toni), Frank Montoya (Rita), and Max Sanchez; daughters: Suzanne Chavez (Eddie Garcia), Judy Tapia (Juan), Diana Scott (Randy); brothers: Eloy Gonzales (Geri), Elmer Gonzales (Betty), and Rudy Gonzales (Amelia); and many other relatives and friends.
