Elnora Thompson was born on June 10, 1926 to her parents, William and Beatrice Maxwell in the community of Maxwell Hill, Texas. She was the fourth child of eight born to this union.

From a very young age, Elnora developed a very helpful spirit, she often offered to help take care of her siblings as to be of assistance to her parents. Elnora was raised in Texas and was educated through the Marlin Independent School District. She later graduated from Booker T. Washington High School where she began her life’s blueprint. In 1942, Elnora met and married John Willie Harold and to this union John Earl Harold was born in 1944.

Elnora later separated from John Willie Harold and moved to Denver, Colorado with her son. She then met Charles L. Thompson who she devoted her life to for 60 years. Elnora did her best to support her family through the years, and despite being the wife of a military man, she was able to maintain stability through it all. At one point, she worked as a manager in several major department stores such as Neusteter’s, Gano Downs and Denver Dry Goods Company.

Elnora is preceded in death by her parents, William and Beatrice Maxwell; son; John Earl Harold; brother, Lawrence Maxwell; sisters, Willie B. Wallace Burch, Lucile Bell, Agnes M. King, and Lillie B. Willis. She is survived by her loving husband, Charlie Thompson; brother, Clarence (Margaret) Maxwell; and sister, Emily (Ray Howard) Woodruff.
