Elnora Lofton Suggs was born on April 16, 1913, in Mountpelia, MS. to the union of Berry and Frances Lofton. She was one of six children. At a young age, her family moved north to East Chicago, Indiana where she attended school. Early in life, she trusted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.
Elnora met and fell in love with Morris G. Suggs and they were married on August 16, 1930. They were blessed with 58 years of marriage. To this union, three children were born; Donald, Loretta and Walter. Her husband preceded her in death in 1989 and her son, Walter, preceded her in death in 1963. Additionally, her grandsons, Donald Suggs, Jr. and Kevin Johnson, preceded her in death in 2012.
Elnora lived a long and full life. Even into her 90s, she loved to walk, watch Christian TV shows, read her Bible and eat LOVED sweets.
Her only daughter, Loretta, and son-in-law, John, cared for her until the very end. Elnora lived with her and her son-in-law for years until she went to live at The Villa at South Holland.
On Friday morning, August 9, 2019, after over 106 years on Earth, God called Elnora home to be with Him in Heaven. She leaves in loving memory: one son, Dr. Donald M. Suggs, Sr.; one daughter,Loretta Johnson (John) and a special son, Mr. Willie Parkman; seven grandchildren, Dr. Kenneth Johnson, Denise Sarpy, Danette Culver (Glenn), Dawn Suggs, Dina Suggs, Stephanie Wideman (Ronald), Stephen Johnson (Heidi), twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind multiple nieces and nephews.
