Elnora Ann Deckard, 79, of Bloomington, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Bloomington Hospital surrounded by her family. Born, July 17, 1931 in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Thomas James and Minnie Effie (Kent) Floyd. A loving, sweetheart, mom and mamaw, who enjoyed camping, crafting and cooking for church functions.
Elnora was a homemaker. She enjoyed her flowers and had been collecting roosters and chickens since 1961. She was very active member of the Apostolic Bible Church.
Elnora married a wonderful man, Glenn E. Deckard on December 23, 1947. They had three children, Daniel Glen Deckard (Barb), Terry Ann Robertson (Gary), and Dennis Lane Deckard (Sue) all of Bloomington. Elnora wrote, “To my wonderful husband Glenn, as I sit writing my own obituary I want you to know there are no words good enough to describe my love for you and my appreciation as you have taken care of me after my illness. You are the best nurse ever.” The Deckard family tree branches out their love as Elnora leaves behind two sisters, Helen L. Stonuey of Lafayette and Phyllis J. Terrell (Edgar) of Bloomington, nine grandchildren, Chris Robertson, Jeff Jean (Kerri), Kevin Robertson, Shawn Deckard, Jason Jean, Amanda Sanders, Robert Deckard, Dustin Deckard (Brandi) and Kylee Anderson, eight great-grandchildren, Kelsey Jean, Hayley Sanders, Tyler Deckard, Chase Anderson, Clayton Deckard, Lukas Anderson, Jordan Boone, Grace Jones and several nieces and nephews.
Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters, Joseph S. Floyd, James K. Floyd, Harold E. “Jack” Floyd, Dorothy M. Wilson, Alice M. Shields and Martha L Hawkins.
