Elnor L. Crickard Walter, age 87 of Westminster, Maryland, died on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Harbor Hospital in Baltimore.
Born July 15, 1924 in Morgantown, W. Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Burr and Rose (Hess) Corley. Twice married she was predeceased by her first husband, Alvin Mike Crickard in 1989, and is survived by her second husband of 14 years, George Walter.
She graduated in 1943 from Tygarts Valley H.S. in W. Va., Towson State Teachers College in 1964, and received her Masters degree in education from Western Maryland College. She taught 2nd and 3rd grade and advanced mathematics at Hampstead Elementary School in the Carroll County Public School System for 26 years. She was a longtime member of Sandy Mount United Methodist Church and later attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arcadia. She enjoyed collecting all types of clocks, rock collecting, and singing. She always greeted everyone with a smile and reached out to help others.
Surviving are sons, Burr Crickard and wife Elsie of Wichita, Kansas, and Mike Crickard and wife Ruth of Elizabeth City, N.C.; grandchildren, Liz “Rainie Beth” Horkman of Lawrence, Kansas, Laura M. Crickard of Portland, OR, Patrick Crickard of California, and Katie Crickard of N.C.; great-grandchildren, Michael Patrick and Zoey Crickard; sisters, Lucy Gott and husband Amos of Morgantown, W.VA, and Rosalie Burcaw and husband Charles of Linthicum, MD.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Julia Patricia Crickard; and by siblings, Hobert Corley and Florence Dunn.
