Elmer William Harlow, 87, of Streator, formerly of Kinsman, died Wednesday night, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Streator. Mr. Harlow was born on May 4, 1921, in Ottawa to William and Daisy (Titzell) Harlow.
He married Edna Ruth Freese on December 3, 1947, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ottawa. He farmed in Highland Township in Grundy County. He was a Sergeant in Company E, Fifth Infantry Division. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Dwight. He was a member of Grundy County Farm Board, President of Grundy County 4-H Board, 4-H Leader of Highland Agriculture, and was Highland Township Road Commissioner for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Sandra (Art) Watson of Streator and Sharon (Joe ) Wilkins of Bloomington; one son, Mark (Doreen ) Harlow of Kinsman; 5 grandchildren, Amber Matsko, April Steigerwald, Tony Wilkins, Kaitlyn Harlow, and Perry Harlow; 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter Angela Watson; one brother, Glen M. Harlow; two sisters, Margie Strickland and Katherine Abbey.
