Elmer Willard Rippe of Lincoln, NE formerly of Hebron, NE was born October 1, 1915 on a farm in rural Deshler, NE to Henry and Mathilda (Fangmeyer) Rippe. He departed this life Tuesday February 23, 2010 at Madonna Hospital in Lincoln, NE at the age of 94 years.

He was baptized October 17, 1915 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Byron, NE and was confirmed April 13, 1930 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Stoddard, NE.

Elmer was drafted into the United States Army during WWII and entered at Fort Sills, OK. Elmer served in the German, European Theater, after serving four years he returned home to farm south of Hebron, they retired in 1996 and moved to Hebron.

Elmer enjoyed playing cards with long time friends, working in his yard and playing and teasing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His ornery smile and silly giggle will be greatly missed. He also enjoyed attending auctions with his wife LaVern.

Elmer farmed in Thayer County Nebraska all of his life. He married LaVern Brunick in 1968. Elmer loved her children just as if they were his own.

Elmer is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lavern, one sister Lydia Harms and husband Arno, two brothers Edwin and wife Melinda, and Clarence, one brother-in-law John Ulsh, and one great- granddaughter Morgan Krupicka.

Survivors are daughters and son-in-laws: Joe and Shirley Price of Lincoln, Gary and Linda Bieck of Lincoln, Chuck and Beverly Bennett of Roca; Bob and Donna Barton of Alexandria, and Tom and Sharon Morrison of Raymond, NE. 15 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, two brothers; Raymond and wife Shirley and Melvin and wife Adeline both of Hebron, NE, one sister Phyllis Ulsh of Sherwood, Oregon, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
