Elmer Poklemba, 97, peacefully passed away with his wife and family by his side on Sunday, December 9, 2018. Mr. Poklemba is survived by his wife of 76 years, Fannie (nee) Brooks; two children Diana Faber and her husband Charles Faber of Long Green, MD, and Allen Poklemba and his wife Cheri Gaver Poklemba of Westminster, MD. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Christopher Poklemba and his wife Kristen of Hamstead, MD; Alexa Poklemba Hartner and her husband James Hartner of Middletown, Md, and Brooke Poklemba of Los Angelas, CA. and seven great grandchildren, Anslea Hartner, Addison Hartner, Olivia Hartner, Beckett Hartner, Cadence Poklemba, Kensington Poklemba and Gavin Hill. Mr. Poklemba was born in Binghamton, NY, in 1921 the son of George and Julia Poklemba and was the eldest of five children. He came to Baltimore in 1941 only to find his beautiful bride in 1942. He worked for 30 years for the GL Martin Marrita Company working on B52 Airfcraft and the Gemini Space Fleet. Mr. Poklemba pursued a career with the State of Maryland in the Special Police Corp for the State Office Building in Baltimore City. He loved the gift of gab and could strike up a conversation with anyone he came into contact. Mr. Poklemba never lost his passion for life. He loved being on the water and sitting on his patio with his loving wife enjoying “One day at a time.”
