Elmer “Louie” Fred Vosberg of Manson, passed away at his home on August 11, 2020. He was born on February 5, 1937, in rural Calhoun County to Erich and Esther Kietzmann Vosberg. Louie attended country school and graduated from Manson High School in 1955. During his time there, he was a proud member of the very successful Manson Eagle Football team and was an Eagle through and through! Louie enlisted in the Army and was stationed in upstate New York. Upon his discharge, he began his 43 year career at the Manson Implement (John Deere) at the bottom of the ladder- wearing green, and over the years moved up to ultimately being in Sales, still wearing green!

In 1978, he fulfilled his dream of living on and farming his family farm south of Manson and later in life, they moved back into town, passing the family farm operation on to the next generation.
Louie is survived by his wife Karen of 58 years, his brother, Larry (Shirley) Vosberg, Fort Dodge, daughter DeeAnn Otto, (Scott), Fort Dodge, son Kevin Vosberg (Patty), Manson, daughter Brenda Keck (Bob), Adel, and daughter Mishelle Gerdes (Steve), Pomeroy. Louie’s pride and joy were his 12 Grandchildren, Jodie Warywoda, Shelby Greenlaw, Kylee Cummings, Hannah Howell, Brock Vosberg, Colton Vosberg, Kynsie Dodge, Anna and Abby Blomgren, Eric, Luke and Natalie Gerdes. Louie was also blessed with 15 Great Grandchildren and the experience of hosting Gert Dubois, Belgium, through the foreign student exchange program. Louie was preceded in death by his parents, Erich and Esther Vosberg, his siblings, Doris Carlon and Albert Vosberg.

Louie never met a person that he could not talk to and ALWAYS made people feel good. His warm disposition, spectacular smile and the best bear hugs will be missed by many.
