Elmer J. Chaplin, 92, a life-long farmer of Jacksonville, IL died Friday, May 7, 2010 at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville.
He was born September 7, 1917 in Butler, IL; the son of Henry and Ida Isaacs Chaplin. He married Clara M. Green on February 19, 1941 in St. Louis, MO and she preceded him in death on May 21, 1988.
He is survived by three sons, Paul Chaplin (wife, Jeanette) of Jackson, TN, Robert Chaplin (wife, Cheryl) of Jacksonville, and Charles Chaplin of Mattoon; five grandchildren, Sue Wade (husband, Jason) of Jacksonville, Laura Butler (husband, Lucas) of Thompsons Station, TN, Brenda Weaver (husband, Ron) of Jacksonville, Aaron Chaplin (wife, Rebekah) of Memphis, TN, and Peter Chaplin (wife, Shelly) of Murrayville; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Chaplin, and a sister, Marie Mehlberg.
