Elmer H. Martin, age 85, devoted husband and father, died at Boulder Community Hospital on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 after a brief hospital stay.

He was born on September 15, 1926 in Eaton Colorado to Henry and Anna Rau Martin. Elmer served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He attained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged in 1952. In June of 1967 he was married to Amelia Henkel.

Elmer is survived by his sons, Dale, Wayne Allan, Warren and Wayne Lynn; his daughter Kathy; five grandsons, Geoff Henkel, Kristopher Henkel, Tracy Jackson, Eric Jackson and Adric Henkel; two great-grandsons Gavin and Garrett Jackson; sisters, Margaret, Betty, Dorothy and Darle; brother, Hank. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Amelia; mother, Charlotte; two sisters, Darlene and Martha; two brothers, Joe and Herb.

He starting truck driving for P.I.E in 1957 and as a single parent raised Wayne Allan and Dale. In 1967, he married Amelia Henkel who was a single parent of Kathy, JP and Wayne Lynn. He returned to his roots and started farming for many years. In 1972 he started to drive for Safeway until his retirement in 1992. In 2005 Elmer and Amelia moved off the farm to the city of Brighton.
