Elma J. Mahoney of Read St., Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on July 7, 2015. She was 90 years old. Born in Bladenboro, North Carolina she was the beloved daughter of the late Bessie and Pink Hester. A resident of Winthrop and formerly of New York, she worked as a nurse’s assistant prior to her retirement.
She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph F. Mahoney, Sr. and the loving mother of Joseph F. Mahoney, Jr. and his wife Sandy of New York, Carol Heyward and her husband Tom of New York, Robert Mahoney and his wife Camille of Winthrop and the late Terrance Mahoney. She was the cherished grandmother of Cathy, Joseph, Brian, Keith, Gregg, Michael J. Mahoney and Isabella C. Mahoney. Also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
