Ellis Joel Camp, 75, of Newnan passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016, in Fulton County, GA. He was born August 7, 1940, in Newnan, GA to the late John J. and Lillian Phillips Camp.

He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Larealia Lovvorn Camp; sons, Ellis Camp Jr. of Corinth, GA, John Camp of Athens, GA, Bob and wife Ashly Camp of Mt. View, CA; brother, Edward Camp of Newnan, Ellis was also blessed with many grandchildren, Cory, Waylon Dillard, Annabelle, Lillian, Zeb, Jackson, Jefferson, Harrison, Hamilton, McKinley Camp, Amanda Lee and great-grandchild, Zoe Lee.

Ellis was a graduate of Newnan High School. He received both a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from West Georgia College. He worked for various manufacturing companies all over the United States installing computer-operated manufacturing management systems. In 1982 he came back to Newnan and started a consulting company. He assisted major manufacturing companies in setting up their systems for total manufacturing from ordering supplies to shipping products. After retiring from his business, he worked as a counselor for the Coweta County School System. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish and he participated in jeep jamborees, even building his own jeep with his son’s help. He was a leader in Boy Scouts where he helped his grandson achieve Eagle Rank. Ellis traveled all over the country camping and enjoying nature with his wife, sons, and grandchildren. He worked as a volunteer firefighter in Coweta County and was a licensed HAM Radio operator, call sign N4JO.
