Travis Mier, 48, and his son Elliot Mier, 5, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Travis was born May 7, 1969 in Spirit Lake to Walter and Leah (Tusa) Mier.
He graduated from Spirit Lake High School and furthered his education at Mankato University and Iowa State University. He owned and operated Midwest Computer Services as an I.T. Consultant. Travis was united in marriage to Jen Gordon on September 25, 2009 at Gull Point in Spirit Lake. Their son Elliot was born on March 27, 2012 in Sioux Falls, SD. Elliot was a fun and energetic little boy full of life. He looked forward to playing with his friends at Little Lakers Day Care in Spirit Lake. Elliot was very into super heroes, dinosaurs, hot wheels, books, fishing with mom and dad and playing games, especially Shoots and Ladders with his grandma. Travis enjoyed video games, playing golf, going fishing with his family, and was an avid Iowa State supporter never missing the annual VEISHEA event in Ames.
Left to cherish their memories are Travis’s wife and Elliot’s mother Jen Mier of Spirit Lake; Travis’s father, Walter (Cheryl) Mier of Spirit Lake; Travis’s mother, Leah Kelloway of Spirit Lake; Travis’s brothers, Todd Allan Mier and his significant other Laurie Brown of Novato, CA; and Thomas Walter Mier of Aurelia, IA; step-sister, Dawn (Dean) Thomas of Yuma, AZ; step brother, Ryan Miskowic of Estherville, IA; Travis’s mother and father-in-law, Jeff (Ila) Gordon of Sioux Falls, SD; Travis’s sister-in-law, Katie (Bill) Lienke of Brandon, SD; Travis’s brother-in-law’s, Jeff (Annie) Gordon of Sioux Falls, SD and Mike (Rachel) Gordon of Duluth, MN; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
They are preceded in death by Travis and Jen’s maternal and paternal grandparents.
