Ellen R. (Zimmerman) Pufahl, 80, of Dalzell, passed away Thursday morning, May 30, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Pufahl was born on February 27, 1939 in Sublette to Leonard and Ruth (Thiel) Zimmerman. She married George A. Pufahl on May 17, 1958 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Leonore. Ellen worked as a floral designer for Valley Flowers and Cosgrove Florals for more than 30 years. She was a member of St. Thomas More Church, Dalzell. Ellen loved working with flowers and used her skills to decorate her church.
She shared her love of baking and cooking, family and friends never left her home hungry and she had a soft heart for all animals. She is survived by her children, Robin (Kathy) Pufahl of LaSalle, Jeffrey (Lynn) Pufahl of Lacon and Michelle (Michael) Smith of Marseilles; six grandchildren, Logan (Ashlee) Pufahl, Cora (Tom) Colville, Heather Hanlon, Toby (Karla) Hanlon, Mycle (Josh Biffany) Smith and M’Kenzee (Collin) Smith; six great-grandchildren, Blake Pufahl, Turner, Taylor and Trevor Pruitt, Everly Hanlon and Kallum Smith; one brother, Vernon (Maureen) Zimmerman of Indianapolis, IN; one sister, Kay Barton of Oglesby; one sister-in-law, Carol Zimmerman of Kangley; one brother-in-law, Fred (Judy) Pufahl of Ottawa; several nieces and nephews and her beloved dogs, Lennon and Rex.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Denise Ann Pufahl in 1962 and Kimberly Ann Pufahl in 1964; one brother, Kent Zimmerman and her nephew, Gene Pufahl.
